Behold! The logo for the Tri-City Dust Devils minor league baseball team. This is quite a disappointing design for a sports team. The horrendous, amateurish execution of the Dust Devil illustration is nowhere near the level of quality that it should be. And certainly not the level of quality that todays more design conscious fans expect.
What's even worse is that the name "Dust Devils" has so much potential for a good design to better brand the team. Yet, they somehow managed to squander away that opportunity.
Yes, diehard fans will purchase branded shirts and hats no matter what the design is. But the Dust Devils have been missing out on a major opportunity to increase sales by reaching a much wider audience if they had a better design.
Ah, but wait. All hope is not lost. While they have had a less than spectacular logo since 2001, the team recently unveiled a new alternate logo (pictured below), which will be used in the 2013 season. It's a far superior design which they should go ahead and replace the current logo with.
